Vratata (The Door) Restaurant is situated in a restored 100-years-old house located in metropolitan district of Lozenets.

Restaurant’s idea and intention is to be a place where one could feel the atmosphere of different Balkan Region culinary concepts: European, Oriental and, of course, Bulgarian.

This month,Vratata restaurant chef Georgi Ermenkov continues navigating the world of gourment food. He has again agreed share some of his culinary secrets with readers of Bulgaria Air the inflight magazine. Taking us on a delicious trip to the Terra del Fuego archipelago and the red- hot Argentina When l hearthe word “Argentina”, I`m immediately reminded of several things,Georgi Ermenkov smiles, keeping his eyes on the pan in which he`s stirring a fragrant golden sauce.”Of football,of my boss`s dog which is a DOgo Argentino and last ,but not least, of Ferdinand Magellan – the man who gave Tierra del Fuego (which means “Land of Fire`s Spanish )its name.Ever since I was little, I have been mentally travelling across the seas with the great navigators. I even took a course for captains of small ships and managed to personally sail to the places I was most interested in. Everywhere I`ve been, Ihave taken something from the life of the Ona tribe,the indigenous population of Tierra del Fuego, but I`ve at least managed to see and learn how their descendants prepare their numerous, delicious dishes.I`ll offer you two traditional Argentina recipes.Argentine wines.I recommend you try the best- selling and most sought-after wine at the moment,Argento Malbec.It`s deep, dark violet in colour,with intense aromas of black stone-fruits with chocolate notes and unique flaours of ripe blackberries with light tannins.Argento Chardonnay is just as enchanting. This exceptional, lightly oaked Chardonnay from the cool mountain vineyards of Argentina is light golden in colour, with aromas of tropical and citrus fruits.”
